Bindi Irwin is Rising to the Challenge

At 13 years old, Bindi Irwin is a growing girl! It seems that she is still working hard to fill her father's big hearted, big shoes and representing the Australia Zoo.

Bindi Irwin ready to take on the world

FIVE years after the death of her famous father Steve, Bindi Irwin, 13, is firmly installed as the face of the Australia Zoo empire.
But is she for real? Wendy Tuohy is pleasantly surprised.

YOU may not suspect Bindi Irwin of having a cheeky sense of humour.

A vast general knowledge, poise and confidence beyond her years, even earnestness: these are things you might expect to find in a girl who's grown up in the media spotlight. Read more...

Steve's Legacy, the Wildlife Warriors

With Steve Irwin's memorial day quickly approaching on September 3rd, and Steve Irwin Day coming up November 15th, my thoughts turn to him and his family every year around now. So many of us really loved Steve. I for one am not a "fan" type, and have known many celebrities. I don't get star struck. But Steve is a soul I'll carry in my heart my whole life I think, because he had such dedication and realistic, coherent goals. His enthusiasm and drive were qualities I find yet unrivaled in this world. And so, year after year, I feel like it is my duty to help keep some of that momentum alive.

Thinking of you Steve.
Thinking of Steve also means thinking of the Wildlife Warriors. Still alive and going strong, this organization is one of Steve's greatest contributions to the world. Show you care about our planet by donating to the Wildlife Warriors or making your own fund raising page. It only takes a moment and builds itself. Then your friends and family can use your site and vision to make a difference too!

Missing Steve Today

Today is the 3 year anniversary of the day we lost a hero. Of course I'm thinking of him as I often do. I wish there was more to report on during the year, but I don't hear so much of the Irwins these days. I suppose I should be more vigilant.

As always, we're here though. All of us who loved Steve and continue to do so. Best wishes and blessings to the Irwin family and Australia Zoo.

And here's a small bit of news:

Zoo plans low-key day for Irwin anniversary

AUSTRALIA Zoo will open on the anniversary of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin's death, but efforts will be made to keep it a low-key day.

September 4 marks one year since Irwin was fatally speared by a stingray barb while filming one of his famous nature documentaries at Batt Reef, in far north Queensland.

Not a whole log of information, but the rest is here...

The Real Bindi Irwin

Nearly a year has passed since Steve Irwin died. His daughter Bindi has her own zoo, TV series, magazine column and fashion label. She's home-schooled, wears the trademark khaki clothes, lives at Australia Zoo much of the time, tours the world performing and has had crews filming her regularly since birth.

Getting By Without Steve - Wes Mannion Speaks Out

"There's not a day I haven't thought about Steve simply because he's been so much a part of my life,'' Mannion, the director of Australia Zoo, said in an exclusive interview ahead of the first anniversary of Irwin's death on September 4.

This is an excellent and lengthy interview. It is definitely worth a read. Personally, I'm happy for any news as talk and articles seemed to "dry up" about 3 - 4 months after Steve's passing. I hope there is more to report on as Steve's memorial approaches. I'll especially be looking for good that has been done in Steve's name since his absence.

My best to you all!
