San Antonio, TX (AHN)-Whoever said that kids were too young to make a difference obviously never met the children from New Braunfels, Texas.
When residents were asked to come up with a name for the new elementary school planned for New Braunfels, an area in central Texas near San Antonio, the response from local children was overwhelming. Their suggestion? To name the school Steve Irwin Elementary, in honor of the environmental activist and adventurer who died from a stingray injury while diving in the Great Barrier Reef on September 4.

SPOILER: The name of the school did not end up Steve Irwin Elementary despite the support for the name being quite impressive. At least they tried. :)
